Performance Suggestions:

a. This etude has some rhythmical challenges. I recommend practicing it thinking of an eighth note as the beat so you can switch from sixteenth notes to sixteenth note triplets, to thirty-second notes accurately. Practice these sections slowly until your fingers are clean. Remember that the sixteenth notes will feel pretty slow at the marked tempo.
b. Crescendo through m. 3 into the downbeat of m. 4 on G#, and round off into the resolution of throat A. Take a breath after the A.
c. Beginning at the three eighth notes in the second half of m. 4, there is a long crescendo stretching all the way to the downbeat of m. 7. Take a breath in m. 6 after the F# on beat 3 if you need it. After reaching the D in m. 7, round off the phrase with a decrescendo.
d. Begin a crescendo in m. 9-10, playing full in m. 11, but add a slight decrescendo into m. 12. Crescendo into m. 13, and keep the volume full all the way to m. 15 beat 2. I suggest a quick breath after the A# in m. 13. You should to flip to the middle finger F# on beat 3 of m. 13. In m. 14, use the side key F# for both notes. Add a decrescendo into the cadence at m. 16.
