Dhom lake is a beautiful lake in the Matheran ranges. It is situated at a distance of 1.8 kms from Bhivpuri Road railway station. One can reach here by train as well as private vehicle. Dhom lake is also called as Bhivpuri lake and Pali Bhutivali dam.
One has to catch a train towards Karjat and alight at Bhivpuri Road railway statio. Then, walk on the platform towards Karjat side. When the platform ends, cross the railway track towards the right. This will lead you to a path filled with snacks centers. One can have snacks from here. Then, continue walking and cross the Karjat- Neral highway. Walk further ahead for 100- 150 metres and you will reach Diksal village. Walk further ahead on a muddy trail. After 500 metres, there will be a right turn and a small slope. Take the right turn and within 100 metres, one will reach the lake.
If going by private vehicle (car or bike), take the Karjat- Chauk highway and then take left to Karjat- Neral highway. Continue on the road for 2.9 kms and then take a left turn. It will lead you to Diksal village. One can park their bikes and cars here and reach Dhom lake by walk.
It is a simple hike to Dhom lake and takes around 30- 45 minutes. It is surrouded by hills of Matheran ranges on three sides. One can see 4-6 waterfalls from here. Diksal waterfall is the most famous along all of them. If you climb a little one of the rocks, one can see the dam. it is fed by streams and rivers coming from the Matheran ranges. One can take left from Dhom lake and go to Diksal waterfall. One can walk along the banks and reach the other side and continue ahead for Garbett Plateau and Garbett Point trek.
During monsoon, one can do waterfall rappelling at Diksal waterfalls. One can also come here with their family and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this place. During winter, one can do night camping on the banks of Dhom Lake.

Distance- 1 km from village.
Route difficulty- easy.
Time taken to reach lake- 15-20 minutes.
Best time to visit- Monsoon (for waterfall rappelling and trek); winter (night
camping).
