i went to elephant butte lake on 8/6/18, on this date elephant butte lake was at 6.1% capacity, 6 months ago the lake was at 23.5% capacity on 2/6/18, that means the lake dropped 17.4% capacity in 6 months, I think that they need to stop dumping water in order to prevent the lake from running dry, right now the lake is at 6.1% capacity which is critically low, i think it is crazy how low the lake has gotten, im worried that in the following years the lake might run dry, now the main boat ramp for the state pare is closed and the guest are using an emergency boat ramp, if you have a boat in this area and want to take it out to the lake then you should take it to caballo lake where the water level is still very high, just be careful because the lake has some shallow spots
