Doctor Who Sings - All Star (Redux)

Today marks one year since we began Doctor Who Sings! We didn’t really have any video editing experience when we started, and we’ve learned a lot as we’ve continued to make more. As a result, our earliest songs (such as Smash Mouth’s “All Star”) have dated quite badly and aren’t up to the standards that we try to maintain with our current output. So, to celebrate how far we’ve come, we’re doing a special series we’re calling ‘Doctor Who Sings Revisited’. We’ve gone back and completely overhauled the first eight videos of the channel, editing in better dialogue, correcting a multitude of timing issues, balancing sound levels, standardising playback speeds, and updating the overall picture quality. For curiosity’s sake, we won’t be taking down the original versions of these songs as we think it’s nice to keep a record of the development of the channel. They will be removed from The Album playlist however, and we’ll be creating a brand new playlist for all outdated videos called ‘Curiosities in a Junkyard’.

As part of our celebrations, for the first time ever on the channel, we’re setting up a release schedule! We will be releasing one new video of this special anniversary series every week for the next seven weeks. The next video, Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”, will release on Boxing Day, with “Let It Go” due for release on January 2nd, and so forth, until “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” on February 6th.

That’s not to say we’ve only got re-releases coming in the near future! The bulk of the work on these re-issues is complete, and we’re already looking ahead to what our next new song is going to be. We have also completed work on a Christmas special, ready for upload on December 25th, so keep an eye out for that too.

To also mark the first birthday of the channel, we decided to give it a branding relaunch. Not only do we have a new channel banner and profile pic, but we’ve created a special channel intro too! We hope you enjoy all of what’s to come :)

And if we finish any other songs before 6th February, we'll upload them as soon as they’re ready. After this series we’ll be going back to our “when they’re ready, they’ll be posted” system. While it’s been fun organising this little event, it’s been quite time consuming, and we’d prefer to upload videos when they’re ready rather than holding them back for a couple of months :)
