This is BOOK 1 of a series of Early Reader Word Books by Children's Reading Cove (2021) designed to provide extra practice for already developing readers.

These books are designed for children who have basic understanding of how to sound out words because they have received direct, in-person instruction on how to do so first. These videos are NOT intended to replace any in-person instruction. They are designed to give the child an opportunity for extra practice.

IMPORTANT: Always match the material to the child's current reading ability/skill level. These videos should always provide a positive practice experience that builds the child's confidence and enthusiasm for reading - not cause frustration.

Extra listening and reading practice is one of the many ways to help children become more fluent, proficient AND confident readers. Reading high quality literature together and pointing out words in your child's everyday environment are some of the other ways to naturally build in reading/sight word recognition.

The Get Reading Series WORD BOOKS can be used with SOUND ON for feedback (narrator's voice) and support OR with SOUND OFF for more of a challenge.

Each WORD BOOK has an accompanying STORY BOOK to allow your child or student to practice his/her reading skills in the context of a short, entertaining/motivating story. The Story Books are deliberately simple and repetitive. Each story book incorporates the previous word families to provide important repetition.

For example,
STORY BOOK 1 features only '-at' words "FAT CAT"
STORY BOOK 2 features '-an' AND '-at' words "DAN CAN"
STORY BOOK 3 features '-ap', '-an', AND '-at' words "CAT NAP"
