Bocce Ball Courts - Rebuilding

Описание к видео Bocce Ball Courts - Rebuilding

This video shows the process of rebuilding 4 championship size Bocce courts in Napa Valley, Calif. in the Town of Yountville. These courts were originally constructed with an oyster shell ( flour ) playing surface. The oyster shell material is a nice playing surface but is also a great fertilizer and over the winter months the moss and algae have taken over.

The Town of Yountville decided this year to clean the organics off the court, regrade ( lazier grade ) the base material and go with a brick dust playing surface.

The orange/red brick dust will be a change from the white color of the oyster shell.
The brick dust will not encourage as much organic growth in the winter and the color will be easier on the eyes and not as reflective as the oyster shell.

A very important part of any organic playing surface is an annual or spring maintenance. The idea is to clean the court up after the winter and have it at its optimum playing level for the dry season. This consideration for maintenance must be considered and factored in during the planning, construction, and lifetime of a court.

I thank the Town of Yountville for allowing my company to rebuild their courts and to shot this video.
