I sat down with Mike Merkle, a highly regarded Elder Law Attorney in the St. Louis area, to get some clarification on the probate process. What it is, how it works, how long the process takes, what happens if you don't have a will, etc.

Navigating a death in the family can be extremely difficult. Even more so if you're not prepared. Going through probate is usually the last thing you want to deal with; and if you don't have the right people to walk you through the process, it can be overwhelming and exhausting.

My goal is to find clarity and resources. What to expect and how to better prepare. For my family, as well as yours.

This is just a short clip from the full discussion. We get into a lot more detail, so be on the lookout for more videos in the future.

I also plan to sit down with Mike again and discuss different ways to avoid the probate process altogether, estate planning, trusts etc.
