Undergrad Architecture thesis:
The term buoyant-scientifically refers ability of an object to float on water. The dissertation is a response to sea-level rise by approach of building cities on water that is resilient and sustainable in nature, though being utopic it is worked with several solutions that are pragmatic in a way by answering problems faced in current cities. The design holds a strong vision of creating a new city structure that implies a refreshing approach to a floating city. Its concept deals in arriving at a suitable geometry required for a floating city through a comparative parameter. This design is a by-product that was derived by strong background study that focused several cases studies, research paper’s, books and by learning other city planning approaches and theories. The solutions that’s are adaptive to sea-weather and its natural disasters are explored through real time and practical answers. The concept of buoyancy, hydrodynamics, moorings systems and ballasts with its working principles are explored by applying them into the urban context. The city is self-sufficient it is designed to produce its own energy, water, food and waste recycling. Overall this thesis is an outcome of an futuristic eco-conscious city model having awareness on the past and present.
