In our sixth video of the series From Zero to LBO, we define base, best and worst cases to simulate different revenue developments of Twitter. The purpose of the scenarios is to incorporate multiple assumptions, which have a direct impact on our discounted cash-flow and leveraged buy-out models. The scenarios / cases follow a simple modeling structure and ultimately introduce a price-quantity-matrix in our financial model. The basis of the scenarios is Twitter's key metric monetizable daily active usage or users (mDAU). Furthermore, the newly added subscription fee is modeled as an additional revenue stream.

The video series covers the modeling of a simple financial model of Twitter using publicly available information. The model includes an integrated three-statement-model linking profit and loss statement and balance sheet to derive a cashflow statement. In addition, a discounted cashflow valuation (DCF) is built on the operating model, including a WACC calculation and sensitivity analysis. Furthermore, an LBO model is build based on manually adjustable assumptions covering a potential private equity backed transaction. The definition of different cases is also introduced to allow for scenario analysis and the analysis of the respective impact.
