Come and explore the 'dancing' fruit plantation with us in 'Big Red' and our rented Maui motorhome.

We sold our house and gave up our jobs in the UK to tour the world. In this episode we stay overnight in the Burdekin region at a tropical fruit plantation. We are travelling in a rented Maui motorhome from Cairns to Brisbane. Our hosts Bruce and Helen give us a tour and offer us the opportunity to explore their plantation in 'Big Red' and go Wallaby spotting!

The 16,000 tree Achacha plantation is located in Burdekin at the base of a picturesque mountain range. Helen and Bruce are passionate about regenerative agriculture and biodynamic methods. They are great advocates for this tasty fruit which has been described as sweet, tangy, refreshing, like a sorbet. Its low sugar content makes it attractive to diabetics.

Burdekin Shire is the sugar capital of Australia, fishing mecca, bird watching paradise and traditional homeland of the Gudjuda Aboriginal people. The Burdekin River Bridge (shown at the end of this episode) is the districts best known landmark. Known as the Silver Link, the 1,103 metre crossing is the only bridge in Australia without a solid footing and is longer than the Sydney Harbour Bridge!

Usually, we are full-time motorhomers and live in the UK. We have shared our recent travels through Europe and have now started to record a much longer trip that has been many years in the planing.
