I know the feeling as I'm sometimes like that. But with kitesurfing, if you skip lessons, you might miss out on some essential information about the wind direction, speed, positioning yourself concerning it, how to interpret the conditions, etc.
The most important thing is determining where the wind is blowing from and how strong it is, how to face and turn, and how your kite position and the steering you do will affect the kite's behavior and power. The wind can pick up or suddenly stop, and the kite's reaction will be much more sudden than what you might be used to. It also requires higher skills to react to the kite's behavior quickly. If you do not know how to, it can be complicated. Another problem of moving the kite without control with sudden reactions is that it can lead to accidentally powering up the kite and getting airborne.
