Jerry Cantrell "Wino" Les Paul Custom

The Gibson Custom Shop is proud to introduce the Jerry Cantrell “Wino” Les Paul Custom. Made to replicate Jerry Cantrell’s iconic Les Paul Custom, it features a Murphy Lab aged Wine Red finish, aged gold hardware, a piezo-equipped bridge, and powerful 490R and 498T pickups.

In this video, Jerry tells us about when he was in eighth grade and asked his father for a Les Paul for Christmas, telling him, “this is all I want.” While his father did gift him a guitar that year, it was an acoustic guitar. Jerry describes how, in the early 1990s, he got four Les Pauls, all of which he still owns today. One of those is affectionately called “the Wino” due to its transparent Wine Red finish. Jerry also talks about the various tweaks he has made to the guitar and his reaction to the Custom Shop recreations of the Wino as he was first comparing one of them side by side with his original guitar. He also talks about the rich tone of the Wino, which he feels has a warmer and rounder tone than the other three Les Pauls.
