The purpose of an anti-icer is to prevent the bonding of snow to your pavement which can create ice, resulting in additional ice melters, and labor to remove.

It's easiest to think of liquid anti-icers similar to applying butter to a frying pan. It keeps the snow from sticking where it can form ice. The first quarter to a half inch of snow will melt on contact. After that there will be accumulation. When the accumulation is removed however, you find a clean surface underneath. The anti-icers kept the snow from bonding, which prevented ice, aided in easy removal by shovel or accelerated natural melting. For more information visit:
