I've had A LOT of asks about the TYR CXT-2 Trainer versus the TYR CXT-2 Elite Carbon Trainer and if the more expensive model is worth it.

After multiple workouts in the CXT-2, CXT-2 wide, and CXT-2 Elite Carbon Trainer, I've built out a pretty good landscape for who should buy which model. Both shoes can be great and have distinct differences.

Does everyone need to drop $225 for the pricier carbon trainer? Probably not, and here's how I categorize this model.

As the old saying goes, the devil's in the details. I like the Carbon Trainer, but I don't think you should stretch yourself if you're on a budget.

The core CXT-2 Trainer works great, and I think for most, the Carbon Trainer may be overkill, especially if you don't want to drop $200+ on training shoes.
