"Slide Away" is the penultimate track from Oasis’s debut album Definitely Maybe, released on 29 August 1994. It was also released as a promotional single in certain regions and used as a B-side on a few subsequent singles, including "Whatever" and "Champagne Supernova”.

The lead guitar part on the original album mix, like most earlier Oasis tracks, was buried in the mix, and some of the phrases could be hard to pinpoint. So, in this cover, I have brought the lead guitar to the front of the mix. The lead parts are generally taken from A pentatonic minor scale and were also quite repetitive on the original. So, in my version, I have included some of the lead bits that Noel played in the “Live at Knebworth” performance, and more recently, the “Live in Cardiff” show, to add some variation. The lead parts in this cover don't entirely line up with the original, but all the phrases are included. Hopefully, it all works from a listener's perspective without becoming too “samey". Once you’ve learnt it, you chop and change and do your own thing.
