Model 54201 (N5400 series) respirator gas mask. Doing DIY? A prepper? A great featured, great priced mask for basic & even advanced protection. Honeywell used to be called North.

Not content with the disposable FFP3 masks that I had and gave to my dad for cleaning our our wood burner, I wanted something bigger, better, with eye protection and generally more capable for the future etc. So I looked around and eventually found this Honeywell respirator. I bought a P3 particulate filter which is the maximum particle protection, similar to the FFP3 disposables but extremely better effectiveness. These P3 filters even will stop bacteria, viruses and fungi spores etc. But this filter I had does not protect against gas. The good news? You can get ABEK P3 filters which protect against A) Organic gas B) Inorganic gas E) Acidic gas K) Ammonia based gas and the same P3 particulate protection additionally. I do not have any of those ABEK filters yet..

I saw a news story yesterday from Sept 2017 about Texas spraying a neurotoxic pesticide on population areas to kill off mosquitos. They say the levels are safe yet Europe banned the spray due to health concerns for humans. While I don't live in America, just because it happened over the pond doesn't mean it can't happen elsewhere for who knows what claimed reasons... Chemtrails are bad enough, without having neurotoxic chemical pesticides sprayed on you from low altitude as well lol.

So since I have the mask any way, now is as good a time as any to get some ABEK P3 filters so that rather than have a mask "capable" of protecting against more things, once I get the filters it will be capable of protecting against more things, should I need it to.

ABEK filters cost more money (and are essentially military spec). For comparison my P3 Particulate filters cost less than £7 delivered, whereas A2B2E2K2 P3 filters cost about £25-36 ish delivered (all from Amazon). (the ABEKP numbers are from 1-3 and offer more protection the higher the number) The type of filter is a standard 40mm filter, referred commonly to as NATO, STANAG, RD40 or EN 148-1. So look out for those filters, they are pretty standard.

So whether you are doing DIY and needing general PPE, are a prepper prepping for civil unrest, zombie apocalypse or CBRN / NBC scenarios, this mask would be a good choice to fit many needs, both for basic and advanced requirements.
