There's major news for the cycling community as Belize will be hosting one of the biggest regional cycling events later this year. Yesterday, the Cycling Federation of Belize announced that Belize has been selected to host the 2025 Caribbean Elite & under 23 Road Cycling Championships, scheduled for October 9-13, 2025. The event will bring more than 130 participants, including athletes, coaches, officials, and support staff from more than 20 Caribbean countries to Belize. The event will be organized in collaboration with the Caribbean Cycling Union and COPACI (the Pan American Cycling Confederation). Leticia Westby, General Secretary for the Federation, said that this is the first time Belize is officially hosting a race of this magnitude. Westby says that hosting the races will go a long way in helping Belizean riders on their path to eventually competing at the Olympics.

Westby says that hosting the event will come at a significant cost, and the federation will be reaching out to private sector partners for sponsorships in the next few months.
