This Women’s Day, we celebrate a beautiful soul with a heart of gold. She is worth all the applause and love she has earned in her life. Hailing from a non-filmy background, she made a dent in the world of movies, through sheer determination and eternal optimism.

Her honesty towards her craft coupled with the pure innocence of a child, Vidya was destined to be India’s favourite entertainer.

Born in a Tamil family, from a humble-middle class background, this filmy girl from Chembur went from auditioning for the legendary teleseries ‘Hum Paanch’ to getting her dream break with ‘Parineeta’! But her journey wasn’t as smooth as it looked from the outside.

Facing multiple rejections, cold shoulder from the fraternity and even being termed as ‘jinxed’, she was a rebel who established her stronghold, with the tag of absolute ‘entertainment’.
