Battles for Svatove

Battles for Svatove - fighting for control over the city of Svatove and its environs as part of the eastern counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It began on October 3, 2022, a day after the Ukrainian Armed Forces recaptured the strategic city of Liman in the Donetsk region[2].

On March 6, 2022, during the Russian invasion, Svatove fell under the occupation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Luhansk People's Republic. It was reported that after a major counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in early September, Russian troops left the city[3][4]. By September 14, the RF Armed Forces had returned[5]. On September 21, mobilization was announced in Russia, during which some of the recruits, after two days of training, were sent to Svatove to complete the front line.
