Well the three musketeers have grown up a bit, and they have been joined by a pair of baby civets, which were brought to me by farmers who were clearing fields with tractors, just as the first three were. The mothers flee, never to return, when the land is cleared, and if I didn't adopt these orphans, they would be left to out to starve.

The larger three civets took to the new additions right away, and are very gentle and affectionate with them, even when they grapple on the lawn in the evenings.

Watching these animals, I have been amazed at the acuteness of their hearing, They listen intently with their ears straining to scan the lawn grass, then they rapidly burrow small holes from which they snag earth-worms to eat, having obviously heard them moving in the soil beneath a thick carpet of grass.

As these animals grow larger, the beautiful patterns of stripes and dots on their coats become more pronounced. .
