Ask the web about Thai food and it tells you “Thai cuisine is a popular and distinctive style of cooking that is known for its bold flavors, complex spices, and the use of fresh ingredients’ one of the most popular cuisines in the world and is loved for its unique blend of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors.” We began our love affair with the stuff years ago chowing down at a hole-in-the wall Thai café in the basement in Champaign, Illinois, next to this great used bookstore. We happily went to Thailand a couple of times and ete morning, noon, and night at the sidewalk stalls. Visiting Lafayette, we enjoyed a meal at Pimon Thai, on Johnson Street. The place is known for a meat heavy range, vegan options available. The web points out that “the vegan choices are not labeled, so vegans please ask. Kitchen and waitstaff are knowledgeable about veganism. Uses cashews to substitute for meat.”

Service Cadillac wrote that “Starting out with the simple vision of bringing authentic Thai cuisine here to our town, Pimon Thai has gone on to serve some truly memorable meals ever since. We thoroughly enjoyed the spicy flavor and crispy texture of their sriracha squid appetizer, served over a bed of lettuce. All their curry dishes make a great choice for your main course, with the savory red sauce of the gang dang curry being our favorite.”

The spring rolls, stir-fry veggies, and fried rice were all delicious. Their menu is very meat-centric but almost everything can be made vegan, just ask the servers! Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about veganism, she really made our dinner a wonderful experience. I would give this place five stars if I could and I recommend it to any Thai food loving vegan.”
