Butser Archaeologist Claire prepares new team member Candice a traditional Roman meal, using the recreated Hypocaust system. The prepared meal (not quite a feast) is then enjoyed in the winter dining room and Claire is able to show how the Hypocaust worked in ancient times. Find out whether Claire and Candice managed to get any sleep at all in the freezing villa complete with creepy crawlies.

Butser Ancient Farm is an open-air experimental archaeology museum and active research centre, learning about the past by recreating it.
