Seven Decades traces the story of how humans went from short, precarious lives to the unprecedented longevity of the modern era. Michael Gurven is Distinguished Professor of Anthropology, and associate director of the Broom Demography Center, at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research focuses on human evolution, health, aging, and cooperation. He is co-director of the Tsimane Health and Life History Project, a long-term study of an Indigenous Amazonian population that has reshaped understanding of longevity and chronic disease.
