The greatest gig Oasis ever played. No iffs, ands or buts. The first night at Maine Road is peak Oasis. I've said that April '95 to April '96 is in my opinion the greatest stretch for Oasis. We've finally reached the end.

Peak vocal performances by Noel and Liam. Band are hitting on all cylinders. Crowd is involved every song. The orchestra. But what sets every other gig apart is where they are playing. Maine Road.

This is the ultimate gig for Oasis: Playing two sold out nights at their home football stadium. 5 lads who came from nothing turned it into the biggest music phenomenon in Britain. There will never be another performance at Maine Road for Oasis. They could've done it in '97, but it would've taken away from this performance.

Im going to say something a little nuts. This gig is overlooked.

Everything is stacked against the first night. Second night had an a semi-official release, more iconic clothes that the band are wearing, more iconic moments (the Whatever fight is just pure Oasis)... But the first night just flows better. No hiccups at all. Its pretty much the perfect gig.

Everyone is quick to say Maine Road is great, but they really mean the second night, which came from ...There and Then. Both nights have had promo vhs' leak back in the late 90's, so we've had some soundboard sources, but the second night has had a slightly larger release. It was only in 2014 when Cast No Shadow from the first night was on the Deluxe Edition of (What's The Story) Morning Glory? where we finally got a real release.

The audience video recordings of both gigs are an incredible look at a different perspective of these monumental gigs. I love video recordings for that reason, and I hope we can get more footage from this era sooner than later.

This recording unfortunately is missing I Am The Walrus and Cum On Feel The Noize (both nights are missing this song unfortunately). But, we still get the rest of the gig.
