The Katarmal Sun Temple was constructed in the 9th century by King Katarmal of the Katyuri dynasty in the Almora district of Uttarakhand, India. Dedicated to the Sun God, Surya, it is notable for its architecture, featuring the main temple and approximately 45 subsidiary shrines, and is often considered the second most important Sun Temple in India after Konark. The temple is situated on a lofty hill and is known for its intricate stone and wooden carvings, as well as its architectural ingenuity and alignment with solar movements, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape.
