SAIGON (HO CHI MINH CITY)-Past and Present

Описание к видео SAIGON (HO CHI MINH CITY)-Past and Present

Saigon, known since 1976 as Ho Chi Minh City, is the largest city in Vietnam by population. Most Americans know of Saigon as a result of the Vietnam War. Before the Americans came, the French were here until 1954 and you can see some beautiful French architecture in some of the structures that were built in the late 19th Century, such as the Opera House, City Hall, Hotel Continental, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Central Post Office. I also visited the Presidential Palace (Reunification Palace) which is where the North Vietnamese tanks crashed through the front gates and took control of Vietnam in 1975. I also visited the War Remnants Museum, which brings the Vietnam War to life. Today, half of the population is under 30 years old and were born after the Vietnam War. It's a different Vietnam today.
