Treasurer Jim Chalmers discusses the “more effective way” to provide cost of living relief to motorists, rather than “chasing the petrol price up and down”.

The Treasurer will hand down the government’s budget in just a few days on Tuesday, May 14.

“Tax cuts for every taxpayer will help there. The average tax cut is about $36 a week,” Mr Chalmers told Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.

“In addition to that, some of these other cost of living measures that you are speculating about that people will hear more about on Tuesday.”
