All right you crazy and wonderful subscribers! Here is an upload that I’m 100% sure will get tons of comments, discussions, and debates! Recently, a generous collector posted samples of an unknown 1979 show onto Queenzone (in a joke thread of all places) and after going through some detective work - the show was identified as being the first Liverpool show from the Crazy Tour. Soon after, a superior source of the show emerged and it was as if Christmas came early! Thank you to everybody involved concerning this show!

This recording is mostly complete (has some cuts during a few songs and “We Are The Champions” is missing) with reasonably good audio quality. This recording has John Deacon’s bass very high in the mix - so if you are a fan of Deaky, this show will make you happy! The band sound great overall on this show (Roger in particular is very gutsy) and when combined with the intimate crowd atmosphere, you’ll get an excellent show! Freddie is also in excellent shape overall. He sounds pretty much the same as the Newcastle shows (give or take a few notes) and sings with authority throughout the recording. Let’s see how this show compares with the other Crazy Tour shows…

The fast “We Will Rock You” is an amusing listen (despite being cut) as Freddie doesn’t sing parts of the first verse (possible mic problems) and keeps the vocals fairly low-key considering the tour. John’s bass work is highlighted on this performance and he sounds awesome! “Let Me Entertain You” is a great performance overall with Freddie singing the first verse and chorus extremely close to the album version! John fudges the bass line going into the second verse, but otherwise does a great job! “Somebody To Love” is an excellent performance overall with Freddie singing the introduction and the vocal solo in a style similar to the NOTW Tour performances, nailing the bridge with authority, and belting powerful highs throughout! He sounds slightly rougher in a few spots compared with the Newcastle performances of the same song - but it doesn’t take away from the excellent performance! “Mustapha” is a fantastic performance overall with the entire band sounding on-point, “Death On Two Legs” sounds great overall with John’s bass playing being a highlight on this version, “Killer Queen” sounds awesome on this show with the bass sounding beautiful and Freddie giving a great vocal performance overall, “I’m In Love With My Car” is your typical solid rendition as always from Roger, “Get Down Make Love” is a great performance overall with Freddie having fun in the improv section, “You’re My Best Friend” is a punchy and great performance with Freddie delivering one of his best vocal renditions of the song, “Save Me” sounds excellent overall with the vocals being nearly spot-on and Brian doing a nice early take on the guitar solo, and “Now I’m Here” from this show is possibly the best live version (at least vocally) as Freddie gives his absolute all on the vocals.

“Don’t Stop Me Now” sounds great overall with Freddie singing bits of the intro and having a good time (no pun intended) during the improv section, “Spread Your Wings” is slightly more reserved compared with the Newcastle versions - but the high notes that Freddie does sing on this version are clean as a whistle (the B4 during the instrumental outroduction is studio-quality), “Love Of My Life” is one of the greatest versions ever as the crowd atmosphere is first class and Freddie sings the song pristinely, “’39” is just as good as the Newcastle performances, “Fat Bottomed Girls” is a fun performance overall, but Brian’s guitar is noticeably out-of-tune, and “Keep Yourself Alive” highlights the rhythm section very well with Freddie singing a great rendition overall! “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” from this show is one of the all-time best versions as the atmosphere is electrifying (to the point where the Royal Family crowd members sing the chorus before the song begins - causing the band to false start) and the band being in the pocket on the performance. Freddie also sings the song fantastically. “Bohemian Rhapsody” is fairly similar to the second Newcastle performance with Freddie powerfully singing the first verse (although he doesn’t go for the “carry on” belt), singing the second verse like the previous gig’s performance, and going for the C5 in the rock section (although he doesn’t quite reach the high note - he tries). Roger also has an amusing moment when he drums in between the first and second verses (oops)! “Tie Your Mother Down” is a fantastic all-around performance with Freddie nailing the vocals (although he slightly flubs the lyrics in the first verse) and the band sounding excellent, “Sheer Heart Attack” sounds awesome overall, and what we have of “We Will Rock You” showcases excellence!

ENJOY!!!

Note: Check out “The Millionaire Waltz” reference after “Mustapha!”

Note 2: How does this show compare with the other Crazy Tour Shows (especially the Newcastle shows)?
