There are many fantastic footwear cities in this world—places that make and sell sublime boots and shoes. But it’s quite possible that none can match Tokyo.

Today I’m lucky enough to spend my life learning from craftspeople who make some of the world’s finest handmade boots and shoes—every day I get to deepen my understanding of the skill and artistry and toil it takes to make something exceptional.

Which this time, has led me to Tokyo, quite possibly the world’s greatest footwear city, to visit factories, stores, and workshops for three days straight, and learn as much as possible along the way.

This is Sole Searching: Tokyo.

In the first episode of this special five-part series (subscribe to be sure you won't miss the rest!), we'll spend most of our day in Asakusa Tokyo’s historic shoemaking area that’s by far the most walkable boot epicenter in Tokyo—and visit the wonderful Rolling Dub Trio, Zerrows, and Brother Bridge retail shops.

But we'll start about a 15 minute car ride north, outside the aptly named The Boots Factory, where RDT manufactures some of the most distinctively fun boots and shoes you’ll ever see anywhere, right within Tokyo.
