Here’s a Pro Tip that you can use to improve your Recruitment Marketing and employer branding strategy.

We really did not have any specific employees in mind at first when we wanted to engage our team members to tell the story about Alation as an employer, so we partnered with our account manager at The Muse to identify the right employees to involve. We ended up saying, “Ok, who has been in the organization for a while? Who has been the ambassador of the company to begin with? And who is able to tell that story?” Now, keep in mind, being in front of the camera and recording, it could be very scary for many.

Adapting to talking on camera does take some comfort level to do, and at the same time, our employees were empowered to be able to press record, tell their story, and do it again, until they are actually comfortable with the end product, versus having a video being done by somebody else and you do not know how it is going to be edited. This gives the power and the empowerment to the actual individual employee.

And so it was really up to each employee as far as what they wanted to highlight. We had some questions about working at Alation that we wanted employees to showcase but as far as the actual video product themselves, it was really the employee who decided what they would record. So I think that was very organic, but I think they also appreciated that no one was going to be looking over their shoulder and adding that extra angst to this process for them.
