A 90-year-old woman set a new world record in the 200m indoor run in her age category, in Padua, Italy, on January 14.

Footage by Ivan Signori shows Emma Maria Mazzenga running the distance in 54.46 seconds.

This beat the previous record of 1:00.72 seconds, which was set 13 years ago by Candian Olga Kotelko.

Speaking to local media, Mazzenga said she only resumed training shortly before the event after fracturing her sternum in early August 2023.

Mazzenga said she ran faster in training and hopes to improve her record further.
