Software vendors are notorious for creating a false sense of urgency. They provide large discounts off the software list price and then tell you that the discount will go away if you don't sign by quarter-end or year-end. While there is some truth to that, the discounts you were provided on December 31 will most likely still be there on January 1. The discount mix may differ, but the overall deal should be substantively similar.

If you are signing an ERP software contract under the false sense that you will lose hard-fought discounts, you are doing yourself a disservice. The cost of not conducting the necessary due diligence will likely be much greater than any discount you receive.
