Reverend Susanne McKim leads our Choral Eucharist Remembrance Service on this Twenty-fifth Sunday in Pentecost, November 10, 2024, with the Colour Party from the Orangeville Legion. Our Music Director is Zacharia Dekker, and Lay Reader and Intercessor this week is Susan Schuschu. The lessons are read by Todd Hillhouse (The Wisdom of Solomon 3:1-9) and Audi Geadah Ogley (The 1st Letter to Peter 3:1-9). Zach cantors the verses to Psalm 116:1-8, while the congregation responds with, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his servants," from the George Black setting. The Gospel is from John (6:37-40). Our hymns this week: 'O Day of Peace' (Common Praise #573); 'O God, Our Help in Ages Past' (#528); and, 'Weary of All Trumpeting' (#582). The choir anthem during Communion is 'In Flanders Fields' by Kirkland Adsett.
The Act of Remembrance after the Processional Hymn includes the Marching in of the Colour Party; singing of the 'National Anthem'; the Legion Statement of Remembrance by Past President Barry Kimber; reading of the Honour Roll by Carol McLean; 'Last Post'; Minute of Silence; the 'Lament' (Piper); 'Rouse'; Act of Remembrance by Bryan Goustos, Sgt. At Arms; Laying of the Wreath by Stuart Smart; and, Presentation of the Colours. We are grateful for the presence and participation of the Legion Colour Party and Piper, and to Stuart Smart for his playing of 'The Last Post' and 'Rouse'.
