Türkiye is taking its unmanned combat aviation to the next level as the ANKA III stealth drone prepares to gain an air-to-air strike role with the integration of ASELSAN’s MURAD AESA radar. This development marks a major shift in how stealth UCAVs are expected to operate in future air combat environments.

With a fighter-grade AESA fire-control radar, ANKA III is no longer limited to ground-attack or ISR missions. The platform is now being shaped to detect, track, and engage aerial targets, enabling beyond-visual-range air-to-air combat, cooperative engagements, and network-centric warfare alongside manned fighters and other drones.

The MURAD radar family has already demonstrated its capabilities on platforms like Kızılelma, Bayraktar AKINCI, and upgraded F-16s, including successful BVR engagements. Its integration on the low-observable flying-wing ANKA III could significantly enhance Türkiye’s ability to project airpower without risking pilots.
