Tulja Bhavani Temple is one of the oldest temple in Maharashtra. Lord Tuljabhavani Hindu Temple is located in Tuljapur.

Tuljabhavani Temple is a Hindu temple in Tuljapur, Maharashtra. Tuljabhavani Devi is known as Kulswamini of Maharashtra. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj used to visit this temple regularly.

Shree Tulaja Bhavani Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Bhavani (goddess Parvati). It is located in Tuljapur in Dharashiv district of Maharashtra, India, and is considered as one of the 51 Shakti Pithas. It is situated 45 km from Solapur. The temple was built in 12th century CE by Maratha Mahamandaleshwara Maradadeva of the Kadamb dynasty. Bhavani is known by the names Tulaja, Turaja, Tvarita, Durga, Parvati, Tripura Sundari ,Bhagawati,Amba (Mother of the Vedas) and Jagadambaa (Mother of the Universe) in different regions.

Along with temples of Renuka at Mahur, Mahalaxmi at Kolhapur, and Saptashringi at Vani, the temple of Bhavani at Tulajapur forms the four great Shaktipitha in Maharashtra.

There are two major entrances to enter Sri Tuljabhavani Temple. One entrance is named as Raje Shahaji Mahadwar and the other door as Rajamata Jijau Mahadwar. There are stone steps leading to the temple of the goddess. After going down the steps, the devotees bathe and wash their hands and feet here before going for darshan at Gomukh Tirtha. Just in front is Kallol Tirtha. It is said in the case of Kallol Tirtha that three Tirthas came together for the bathing of the Goddess. At the main door of the temple is the Siddhivinayak of the right trunk. Here Aadishakti Adimaya and Annapurna Devi temples also attract attention.

As one enters the Sardar Nimbalkar entrance, there is a temple dedicated to Markandeya Rishi on the right. After descending the stairs, one sees the main Tulja Temple. There is yagna kund (Holy fire pit) in front of this temple. On the floor near two main gates (Raja Shahaji Mahadwar and Rajmata Jijau main gate).

There are also Amruth Kund and a Datta temple on the premises. A Siddhi Vinayak temple is situated on the left side of the main gate whilst on the right, there is a temple of Aadishakti, Aadimata Matangadevi. A temple of goddess Annapurna is also present in the main complex.

The idol of Goddess Tulja Bhawani is believed by her devotees to be `swayambhu` ("self-manifested" or "that which is created by its own accord"). The high granite idol is three-foot tall, with eight arms holding weapons, and bearing the head of the slain demon Mahishasura. The Goddess is also known as Tulaja, Turaja, Tvarita and Amba.

Sri Tuljabhavani Devi’s idol is Chal Murti. Here, instead of taking out the festival idol procession, the actual idol of Sri Tuljabhavani Devi is placed in a palanquin and a procession is taken around the temple. A total of three times a year, the idol is moved from the throne and placed on a bed outside the shrine. Later on the day of Vijayadashami, the mother is taken out in a palanquin procession during Simollanghana. A procession of Sri Yantra, Khandoba and Mahadev also takes place along with the Devi’s palanquin.

Adi maya Adi shakti temple is the temple north to the Tulajabhavani temple. First this pooja starts, and is then followed by the pooja of Tulajabhavani which then takes place.
