In this video, we focus attention on Copernikus - a crater on the Moon - and observe day and night at that point. We see that for the duration of an entire paksha (Earth time) there is daylight followed by an entire paksha (Earth time) of night. Thus one day (daytime and night time put together) on the Moon is equivalent to a chandramasa on Earth!

The Surya Siddhanta describes such a time period as a "day of the pitrus". A day of the pitrus consists of two pakshas, with shukla paksha being the daytime and krishna paksha being the night time.
