2018 BMW 740e PHEV Review and Comparison

To meet emissions targets in California and around the world BMW has been aggressively rolling out plug-in hybrid versions of their popular products and the latest to get the PHEV treatment is their flagship 7-Series sedan. The 740e combines a 2.0L turbo engine with an electric motor to deliver identical acceleration to their tried-and-true 3.0L turbo with significantly better fuel economy. If you feel like charging the lithium battery stowed in the trunk you'll get around 15 miles of electric range. The package sounds a great deal like the Cadillac CT6 for good reason but when you scratch the surface the BMW and Caddy are quite different.
