Steve Jones was someone that was perfect for the free-flowing style of the ABA. The man they called Snapper was an excellent offensive machine. It was important that the defense knew where he was at all times, as he could shoot the colors off the ball, especially from behind the 3 point line. He was a big guard for the time at 6 '5 and 210 pounds, and he used his strong frame to back down opponents in the midrange and hit the turnaround jumper. He also had a nice head fake out of the triple threat, allowing him space to shoot on the move. He was deadly curling off a screen, while his baseline drive was hard to stop.Steve made 3 straight All-Star games while consistently serving as one of the league’s top scorers. He had the capability to be the number 1 guy at any time, but he didn’t have an ego, not being afraid to let others shine. Due to his calm disposition, Steve never earned a technical foul in his entire career, and his positive attitude earned a lot of respect, and with his great speaking skills, it was only right that he became a broadcaster after his retirement. Steve formed a great team on the call with Bill Walton, a pairing that Portland fans enjoyed for many years. Steve was another one of those guys that just doesn’t get the respect he deserves for his legendary career, but today’s video will change that.
