We stayed at the Old township of Mary Kathleen, Between Cloncurry and Mt Isa.
There is a huge area to free camp, just pick your spot. We chose an old building slab which made setting up the van very easy. Nice and flat. Must be self contained as there are no facilities at all. Staying two nights so we could drive out to the Uranium mine the next day. The road out is 4x4, very rough in places with so many potholes. As the mine is on private property the road probably will not be fixed, just get worse over time. Please be respectful of this area, lots of cattle also call this place home, leave them alone and don't allow children to chase them, which did happen while we were there. Lucky the bull didn't come to his ladies rescue. AND TAKE YOUR RUBBISH OUT WITH YOU.........
