"Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium: A Landmark Sports Structure in Chitwan's Development"

The Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium, located in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-15, Chitwan, is one of Nepal’s most ambitious sports infrastructure projects. Despite challenges faced by the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation, the project has been taken over by the Bharatpur Municipal Corporation and is progressing steadily with support from both the federal and provincial governments. Construction, which began in July 2023, is slated for completion by January 2027, with a contract value of Rs. 785.1 million.

As of now, 10% of the work has been completed, with the foundation for the stadium’s parapet already laid and the top layer of the ground cleared. The project is being executed in two daily shifts, ensuring work continues uninterrupted even during festivals. The stadium, once completed, will be a state-of-the-art facility, capable of hosting national and international cricket events.

With a budget of Rs. 500 million allocated for the current fiscal year, the stadium is expected to significantly boost the region’s sports infrastructure, providing opportunities for local athletes, creating jobs, and driving economic growth. The completion of this project will establish Chitwan as a key hub for sports tourism and offer a world-class venue for cricket enthusiasts.
