Here is an exhaust fan that I've had for quite a while in my house. It's the older version of the Panasonic model FV-40AFU industrial exhaust fan that still has the start-up sound! This model has been in production since the National era until this day. Yes, that was a very long time ago. Even this fan has been available in Japan since the 1970s and 1980s. The design never changed since a few decades ago until the newer version in white that's currently being sold, is very timeless! The only downside with the Indonesian versions is the unbalanced propeller. Two of the blades are strangely heavier than the other two which makes it vibrate a lot. You can hear that it vibrates quite badly with the shutters on. Fortunately, the materials feel quite solid which doesn't make it feel like a cheapened product.

For those who are new to my channel, I've had the white 40AFU fan since the middle of 2022. I got it brand new in a box from an electronic store. I bought it because National/Panasonic FV-40AFU/KDK 40AAS fans have been on my wishlist since I was in elementary school, and I liked it even more after the white version was released. God Willing, I was finally able to get one myself a white Panasonic FV-40AFU after a few years, and you can see my white one by referring to this video!:    • 16” Panasonic Industrial Exhaust Fan  

Since the newer version of Panasonic 40AFU/KDK 40AAS already has a new motor with thinner windings, they don't have as much torque as the older ones anymore. And I was kinda disappointed by the missing iconic startup sound which has stuck to them for over the years. Therefore, I planned to find a secondhand older FV-40AFU fan in pristine condition, and I never found one that suited my criteria. Until this one popped up somewhere which caught my attention due to the pristine condition, and when I took a look at it further, it turned out to be a new old stock unit, complete with the manual book and the warranty card! After I checked my bank and God Willing I had more than enough balance, I directly grabbed it without too much hesitation, and here it is now! There were two units for sale at that time, but I'm just taking one because, yeaahhh I'm just needing one unit for myself 😉. If you're asking where's the original box for it, well unfortunately the original box was damaged, which is why it wasn't included with the fan.

The feedback from spending quite a lot of money on this fan is satisfying enough! I got more torque from an older 40AFU, and what makes me really happy is I got the satisfying startup sound! I feel very grateful for this fan! For the performance itself, it has a similar RPMs and airflow as the newer version. And the thing is, it has a similar vibration! I still don't understand why the Indonesian sole agent for brand holders makes the propeller unbalanced compared to the ones made in Japan.

Lastly, because I am still more satisfied with the newer white version, but prefer the performance of the older ones more, so I planned to swap the fan motors on my two 40AFU fans right after I'm done taking this video! I know that may sound like WTF?! But honestly, I still prefer the white 40AFU compared to the older grey 40AFU in terms of looks, but preferring the older grey ones on the performance side.
