In this video, I want to talk to you about the health of your thyroid and cruciferous vegetables. This is a point that comes up over and over again. Will cruciferous vegetables cause problems with my thyroid? Will you develop a big huge goiter if you consume lots of cruciferous vegetables or take a cruciferous vegetable supplement?

The truth is, the chances of cruciferous vegetables being a problem for you are about the same as winning the Virginia Lottery—it’s incredibly rare, and it would take years of eating nothing but massive amounts of cruciferous vegetables to create a real problem with your thyroid.

It’s true that cruciferous vegetables have a tendency to deplete your iodine. Your thyroid does need iodine to function properly. However, it would take an incredible amount of vegetables to have an impact on your iodine levels.

In fact, I recommend having some cruciferous vegetables for thyroid health. Why? Because having too much estrogen is one of the primary causes of a slow thyroid. Cruciferous vegetables help regulate your estrogen levels, which promotes thyroid health.

If you are worried about your iodine levels when consuming cruciferous vegetables, I recommend taking organic sea kelp, which is rich in iodine.
