Ashbourne is located in County Meath, on the former old main road to Slane, Ardee and Monaghan. It is one of the commuter towns served by Bus Eireann, but it is also served by regional routes operated by that company.

The biggest change to the bus network since the last visit in October 2024 [   • Ashbourne Buses | October 2024  ] is that Ashbourne Connect took over the operation of Local Link route 195 at the start of July. This has brought an ex-London Mercedes Citaro to the route, replacing the previous mini-bus. Finally, on the day of the recording, Go-Ahead Ireland were using two of their standard TFI Streetlites on route 197, rather than their own Streetlites which they imported for the route.
