Sunday Salon takes you behind the scenes of China's classical music, featuring a different classical music luminary each month.

Hosted by writer, author and journalist Nancy Pellegrini, the salon is made up of discussions with, and performances from, the esteemed guest. Sunday Salon has had some of China's biggest names in classical music, and this month is no exception.

For September, Sunday Salon is thrilled to welcome back world-renowned pianist Sheng Yuan.

Known as China’s first Bach interpreter, Sheng returns to his Chopin routes as he launches his six-year Chopin cycle covering all the composer’s solo, chamber and vocal music for piano.

A professor at Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music, Sheng combines scholarship with musical understanding like no other artist; the depth of his interpretations are staggering.

This month, he plays Chopin selections and discusses his and our relationship with the composer as well as his work with Chopin-era pianos.
