Lane Cove Valley Expressway: Lost Sydney

Описание к видео Lane Cove Valley Expressway: Lost Sydney

The Lane Cove Valley Expressway was a planned expressway in the 1951 County of Cumberland scheme. It was to run from the Gladesville Bridge along Burns Bay Road, cutting through the Lane Cove National Park, before following the route of the current-day M2 to Macquarie Park. It would have then consumed bushland throughout South Turramurra and Wahroonga, before finally ending at the current-day M1 Pacific Motorway at Peacre's Corner.
And yet, only roughly 2 km of the southernmost extent of the expressway was ever built, back in the 60s. Why? Find out in this video, and come along with me as we explore all the hints throughout Sydney's northern and north-western suburbs that an expressway was going to run through the area.
