Healthcare Services Bill to replace Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act

With the new Healthcare Services Bill (HCSA) passed in Parliament on Jan 6, there will be clearer and more flexible laws for healthcare service providers to ensure there are sufficient safeguards so that patient safety is not compromised. The bill replaces the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act (PHMCA). For the first time, there will be regulations on non premise-based services, such as private ambulance operators and telemedicine. The changes under HCSA will be implemented in three phases until the end of 2022.
