Ray (Neville Buswell) continues to feel guilty about having trusted Sharon (Susan Littler) with Benny’s (Jeremy Young) key. Lucille (Jennifer Moss) is suspicious when Bet (Julie Goodyear) makes a vague but pointed comment about Sean (Tony Doyle). Detective Inspector Patterson (Tony Steedman) arrives at the yard to question Ray. Len (Peter Adamson) isn’t happy when Patterson insists on searching both No. 9 and the yard. Norma (Diana Davies) is worried Jacko (Robert Keegan) was the one responsible for the burglary. Hilda (Jean Alexander) recalls having let Jacko into the flat on the day of the burglary. Bet tells Lucille that Sean made a pass at her. Ray and Len row over Ray’s carelessness and the harm it has caused to the firm. Alan (Alan Browning) and Elsie (Pat Phoenix) meet Jimmy (John Barrie) for a meal. Rita (Barbara Knox) is annoyed at Benny for dismissing Len. Annie (Doris Speed) reassures Concepta (Doreen Keogh) that people approve of her and Sean. Hilda decides to “do her duty” by reporting Jacko to Patterson. Ray tells Jerry (Graham Haberfield) he might as well do a runner as he is under suspicion and has previous convictions for theft but Jerry tries to convince him to see it through.
