The 12345 /12346 Saraighat Express is a daily Superfast train which runs between Howrah, Kolkata (West Bengal) and Guwahati (Assam), via New Jalpaiguri Junction in Siliguri, North Bengal.
12346 – leaves Guwahati daily at 12:20 pm IST and reaches Howrah Junction the next morning 5:20 am IST.
12345 – leaves Howrah Junction daily at 3:50 pm IST and reaches Guwahati the next morning 10:05 am IST.
Post lockdown from 5 October 2020 Saraighat Express restored as 02345/46 GHY–HWH COVID SPECIAL which is hauled by Siliguri-based WDP-4 diesel locomotive from Guwahati to New Cooch Behar. From New Cooch Behar to Howrah it is now hauled by Howrah-based WAP-7 electric locomotive & vice versa.

Guwahati railway station (Station code: GHY) is located in the heart of the city of Guwahati, Assam. It is the first fully solar-operated railway station in India. It has been rated as A1-category station. Just behind the Guwahati Railway Station is the Assam State Transport Corporation Bus Terminal.
An ISO-certified railway station, Guwahati Railway Station has been ranked 21 in cleanliness among the A1-category railway stations in India.
To reduce the traffic on the Guwahati junction, there is another railway station in the city at Maligaon, the Kamakhya railway station. Almost all newly introduced trains run from the Kamakhya Jn. railway station only. There were plans to make a new railway station at Beltola (in the southern part of Guwahati) to introduce trains towards Shillong, Meghalaya. Plans have not been finalized and are still in progress.
Guwahati railway station became the first railway station to run entirely on solar-power. The solar panel installation project was commissioned in April 2017. In recent years the railway station got a 100 feet high Tri colour. It is the tallest tricolour among any railway stations in north east India.
The station has a diesel locomotive shed with room for 80 locomotives. The sheds accommodate WDM-3D, WDG-4D, WDG-4 and WDS class locomotives. The shed now also accommodates WDP-4D locomotives. The station has a coach maintenance complex.
The station is the divisional headquarters for the Northeast Frontier Railway.It became the first ever Railway station in the Indian Railways to get an ISO certification from the National Green Tribunal for "providing passenger amenities in a clean and green environment".
The station has seven platforms. It serves the long-distance trains of NFR. In addition, there is a transit passenger facility with dormitory, single room and double room accommodation.The station also has amenities like High-class reserve(VIP) lounge,waiting rooms,AC and non AC retiring rooms,food courts and sanitation facilities.

Howrah railway station, also known as Howrah Junction, is a railway station located in the city of Howrah, West Bengal, India. It is the oldest and largest existing railway complex in India. It is one of the busiest train stations in the world. About 600 passenger trains pass through the station each day, utilising its 23 platforms, and serving more than one million passengers per day. Howrah is one of five intercity train stations serving the Kolkata metropolitan area (including Howrah and its twin city of Kolkata), the others being Sealdah, Santragachi, Shalimar and Kolkata railway stations.
Eastern Railway, who operate the station, refer to the station as "Howrah". Indian Railways refers to the station as "Howrah Junction". The station is more colloquially referred to as "Howrah Station".
The nearby Rail Museum, Howrah opened in 2006 contains a section dedicated to the heritage and history of Howrah railway station.
The station has a diesel-locomotive shed with room for 84 locomotives. The electric-locomotive shed has room for 96 locomotives. There is also an electric-trip shed with the capacity to hold up to 20 locomotives. The sheds accommodate 150+ WAP-4, WAP-5, and WAP-7 locomotives. The EMU car shed has over 15 parking slots. The station has a coach maintenance complex.
The station is the divisional headquarters for the Eastern Railway.
The station has 23 platforms. Platforms 1 to 16 are located in the old complex, referred to as "Terminal 1". It serves the local and long-distance trains of Eastern Railway and local trains of South Eastern Railway. Platforms 17 to 23 are in the new complex, referred to as "Terminal 2". It serves the long-distance trains of South Eastern Railway.
