Lab tests you need if you have PCOS or think you might and want to get checked out! 

✔️A full hormone panel (this SHOULD include at bare minimum: estrogen, TSH, Testosterone, DHEA-S, FSH, LH). I might also recommend prolactin and SHBG. In addition, if TTC: ask for your AMH
✔️Full thyroid panel if your doc will run one
✔️A1C
✔️Fasting insulin and/or fasting glucose
✔️Vitamin D
✔️Iron
✔️Vitamin B12
✔️A pelvic ultrasound 

🚩 If your doctor won’t run lab tests for you, here is what I would say: “Understanding what my hormones look like and what they’re doing will help inform and guide us into an effective treatment protocol so I can take the right steps to manage my PCOS and health better.”

➡️ BEFORE YOU WALK OUT OF YOUR APPOINTMENT: Ask the doctor if you can view their lab order. SOOO often, doctors fail to order all the labs we request and this leaves us frustrated. Give them a gentle nudge by ensuring they’re all there.
