Four (4) 2 7/8" squares from Fabric B
Eight (8) 2 1/2" squares from Fabric B
One (1) 5 1/4" square from Fabric C
Sixteen (16) 2 1/2" squares from Fabric C
Eight (8) 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" strip from Fabric D

BLOCK INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1: Flying Geese using the NO WASTE METHOD-
To make four flying geese using the no waste method take one 5 1/4” square from Fabric C and four 2 ⅞” squares from fabric B. Draw a diagonal line with a fabric marking pen on the wrong sides of your 2 ⅞” squares. Place two (2) 2 7/8” squares at each corner of your 5 1/4” square
Make sure right sides are together and the diagonal lines match up to make a straight line.
Sew 1/4” from the diagonal line on each side of the line. Cut piece on the diagonal
line you marked. You will now have two pieces that look like.

Press seams toward Fabric B and place a 2 7/8” square at the lower corner of your piece. Sew on each side of the diagonal line
you marked at 1/4”. Cut piece on diagonal line.

You will now have four flying geese using the no waste method!

STEP 2: HOW TO MAKE Double Corner Triangle Units:
To make your double corner triangle units. Place all your 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips from fabric D out in front of you. Draw a Diagonal from corner to corner on all your 2 ½” squares from Fabric C.

Place half your diagonals going to the right and the other to left on the ends of your strips making sure they are facing right sides together.

Sew on the line you drew. Trim your seam allowance to ¼” and repeat this same process on the other end of your strip with your remaining 2 ½” squares from Fabric C.

Now you have all the units sewn to complete your block.

STEP 3:Sewing up your Units:
Start by sewing two flying geese to your 4 ½” square from Fabric A with the tip of the triangle facing in.

With your remaining flying geese sew a 2 ½” square from Fabric B to each side. Sew these to rows to the top and bottom of your piece.

Sew each of your double corner triangle units into pairs. Sew two of these pairs to the sides of your piece.

Now it's time to sew your top and bottom rows. Sew a 2 ½” square from Fabric B to each end of your double triangle units and sew your these rows to the top and bottom of your piece.

Great job! Your Good Friends Block is complete.
